Primary Drama: INSET Day

Course Tutor: David Farmer

This one-day drama INSET course immerses you in activities and ideas which you can take back and use immediately in the primary school classroom or drama club. The drama strategies - including still images, teacher in role, hot-seating, ten-second objects, thought-tracking, spotlighting and visualisation - can be used across the curriculum and are designed to meet statutory drama and literacy objectives. Participants have the opportunity to work with drama expert David Farmer, network with colleagues to discuss common problems and devise solutions to put into practice.

  • Learn to use drama games, activities and practical techniques to enhance creativity and learning across the curriculum, encourage group co-operation and have fun!
  • Discover how you can use drama lessons and strategies to meet statutory drama and literacy objectives, including speaking and listening.
  • Explore literacy using drama techniques including visualisation, still images, music and improvisation to bring alive a traditional story, encouraging depth of understanding and creativity.
  • Approach history through a drama lesson about British evacuees in World War 2 using photographs, artefacts, recorded archive audio, improvisation and role-play.
  • Includes a free signed copy of Learning Through Drama by David Farmer.
  • Full notes are provided so that you can concentrate on participating in the activities.
  • Attendance Certificate presented.

This one-day Drama CPD course is suitable for staff from schools and other organisations as well as freelancers. It will benefit both those who are new to drama and those with more experience, who are looking to refresh their drama skills with a group of like-minded people. It takes place at Toynbee Studios in London on Wednesday 26th September 2012.

Standard Fee (£165): The standard fee is £165 per participant. There is a 10% discount for each additional colleague from the same organisation. NB Please complete and return the booking form below with your purchase order or payment. What to bring

Comfortable clothing to move in. Light refreshments are included and at lunchtime we usually walk a few minutes to eat a delicious lunch at Leons at Old Spitalfields Market (lunch not included).
