Macbeth is the first in a series of new editions from Shakespeare's Globe Education. Aimed at 11-16 year olds, the book brings the text alive through dozens of full-colour photos and a plethora of additional information and ideas laid out in an attractive format. These include director's notes, actors' exercises, contextual information about Shakespeare's world, views by the actors and an exhaustive glossary running alongside the complete text.

The inspiring and dramatic photographs - along with the exercises and tips - are taken from three productions of Macbeth at the Globe Theatre (Tim Carroll 2001, Bill Buckhurst 2010, Lucy Bailey 2010). There are also copious Examiner's Notes exploring character and plot development, themes and ideas, performance and contexts through well-thought-out questions and comments. The book is supported by an online Dynamic Learning resource providing access to video clips from Globe productions and other resources. The book supports an active-learning approach to Shakespeare and would be a valuable asset for both English and Drama teachers.
